An opportunity has become available for an experienced Maintenance HVAC Technician. This role will provide support to the Facility Management team functions in accordance with operational requirements of the Project Agreement at Bouygues Energies & Services Canada. Reporting to the Facility Manager, the principal duties of a Maintenance HVAC Technician is to perform skilled technical work in the maintenance, repair and upgrading of building systems components and related installations including the performance of a variety of maintenance and installation tasks according to established schedules, methods and procedures to satisfy the operational requirements of the FM Services Contract. The Maintenance HVAC Technician will be responsible to oversee the work of contractors; develop work plans; respond to emergency situations; adapt work methods to address problems; estimate and requisition materials; and prepare records and reports in relation to their trade.
Key responsibilities include:
Responds to all maintenance calls as requested and trouble shoots, perform minor repairs or isolates the issue; consults supervisor for after hour service calls.
Respond to emergency and non-emergency alarms for various building systems such as fire alarms, steam boilers and elevators
Provide advice on installations and fixture upgrades, and take ownership of the refrigeration and HVAC related equipment on site.
Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures and assist in the implementation of a preventative maintenance program for our physical facility.
Maintain, repair, troubleshoot and install various components of the refrigeration systems including metal works and variety of compressors, evaporators, and other mechanisms supporting the industrial refrigeration systems.
Coordinates with tradesmen, on site contractors and various client groups and work together to create minimal disruption to the facility and the service provider.
Monitor building automation systems and make minor adjustments.
Maintain Logs and write reports as required and requested.
Keeping work area orderly, clean and safe ensuring proper care in the use of equipment and supplies
Provide technical assistance and advice as directed by the Supervisor.
Who YOU are
3-5 years of experience in HVAC maintenance or related field.
Mandatory Ontario 4th Class Stationary Engineers Certificate
Mandatory Redseal Certification or Inter-provincial Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic Ticket.
Knowledge of building automation system, chiller, boiler, water treatment & Fire alarm system
Strong understanding of Occupational Health and Safety and adheres to the Act and other legislative enactment.
Willing to participate in educational programs and in-service trainings as offered
Strong communication skills with the ability to provide verbal and written reports as requested.
Able to communicate the work status with the client groups via central call centre within the time frame given in response time policy.
Consistently works in a professional manner and close work orders within time frame given in response time policy, always maintaining a standard industry level productivity
Represent the department with a positive and professional attitude.
The Working Conditions
You must be able to work in a flexible working environment and will be exposed to different weather conditions is to be expected. We require for you to be physically able and to abide by our Health and Safety guidelines of regular lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds. You must be flexible to be on your feet and be able to walk, sit, and stand throughout a shift. You must work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and the regulations and according to safe practices and procedures. You are responsible to report all injuries, incidents and unusual conditions immediately to supervisor and attend all required health and safety training programs (e.g. WHMIS, orientation).
